The life cycle of a butterfly Oxford 5A Module 4 Unit 2 的一篇课文。戴敏老师这堂课主要有以下几个特点:

一、  立足于教材又不局限于教材

课文内容:

Picture 1

A butterfly is an insect. It lays eggs on a leaf. The eggs are small and white.

Picture 2

The eggs become small caterpillars. The small caterpillars eat leaves.

The caterpillars grow.

Picture 3

This caterpillar is big and fat. It makes a little house. It is a cocoon. The cocoon is brown.

Picture 4

The cocoon opens. A butterfly opens. It is wet. A butterfly comes out. The sun makes the butterfly dry. It is a beautiful butterfly.

戴敏的课堂教学内容为:

1.            Look! A little egg lies on a leaf. Who lays the egg? Maybe a butterfly lays the egg.

2.            The story of a very hungry caterpillar: At first, the caterpillar is small. He likes to eat apples, pears, plums and … So he is bi and fat.

3.            What’s that on the tree? A cocoon. A brown cocoon. What is it going to be? Look! The cocoon opens. A butterfly comes out.

4.            This is the life cycle of a butterfly: A butterfly lays eggs on a leaf. The eggs become small caterpillars. The small caterpillars grow. They become cocoons. The cocoons open. The butterflies come out of the cocoons. They are beautiful.

二、  问题促使学生积极思考且面向全体

例:

1I have a head. I have a body. I have a pair of feelers. I have two pairs of wings. I have six legs. I can fly. I like flowers. I am beautiful. What am I?

2What’s on the leaf?

3Who lays the egg on the leaf?

4What’s that?

5How is the caterpillar?

6What can you see in the picture? What colour is it?

7What is it going to be?

8Who can use the pictures on the board to show the life cycle of a butterfly?

… …

1的猜谜既是对以前学过的知识的复习,又是引出今天的课题,同时又启发学生思考。例245每个学生都能回答,而例378则有一定难度。

三、  练习及时反馈教学效果且为下一课时作好铺垫

例:

1.      Fill in the blanks:

At first, the caterpillar is hungry/small. He likes to eat/eating (eat) apples, pears, plums … . So he is big and fat.

2.      Listen and number

(    ) The small caterpillars eat leaves.

(    ) They make cocoons.

(    ) A beautiful butterfly lays eggs on a leaf.

(    ) The caterpillars become butterflies.

(    ) The caterpillars grow.

(    ) The eggs become small caterpillars.

(    ) They are big and fat.

(    ) The cocoons open.

(    ) Now there are many butterflies in the garden.

3.      Fill in the blanks:

The life cycle of a butterfly

A butterfly is an insect. It lays eggs on a leaf. The eggs are small and white. The eggs become small caterpillars. The small caterpillars eat leaves. They grow and grow. Now this caterpillar is big and fat. It makes a little house. It is a cocoon. The cocoon opens. A butterfly comes out. The sun makes the butterfly dry. It is a beautiful butterfly.

4.        Tell the life cycle of a silkworm/frog.

从例1到例4层层递进,螺旋上升,同时及时检验教学效果。

四、   媒体制作形象直观,激发学生学习兴趣

课件的技术含量较高,如由eggcaterpillar的变化,由cocoonbutterfly,形象直观,帮助学生理解,又激发学生的学习兴趣。

五、   课堂教学探索切合学生实际的教学规律

顾村中心小学的课题是《人口导入区小学英语课堂环境的探索与实践》。在近几年的城市建设发展中,顾村成为一个人口导入区,中途不断有外地或外区孩子转入,这些孩子在学习英语方面有许多困难,尤其是外地学生,他们的英语基础几乎为零。我们可以看到戴敏老师在她的课堂教学中对这个问题的实践、探索与思考,如“What’s that?”“What’s on the leaf?”等这样的问题就是为了那些英语基础较差的的学生设计的。另外在故事“A very hungry caterpillar”中反复出现的水果类单词、MondayTuesday等日期,a piece ofa slice of等量词,对于基础好的学生是复习,对于基础差的孩子是学习。又如“Listen and number”这个练习,老师把课文中的第三人称单数改为第三人称复数也是她对课题中的一个问题,即怎样帮助中途转入的外语基础较差的学生学习英语所采用的一种策略。

总之,戴敏老师的这堂课切合他们的学生实际,也切合他们学校的实际情况。希望戴敏老师在今后的课堂教学中进一步探索如何培养这些中途转入学生的语言能力,进一步深入课题研究。

我们宝山区属于人口导入区,因此大部分学校都有类似情况,这堂课为我们提供了一个很好的范例。
